Dr. Sara Edwards is a nurse-midwife, microbiome researcher, and perinatal health coach with over 30 years of experience supporting women through pregnancy, birth, and beyond. My journey has taken me from caring for women and catching over 3,000 babies in hospitals, birth centers, and homes, to teaching future midwives as an Associate Professor of Nursing at Emory University for 20 years. About the Provider

Today, I blend the best of clinical wisdom and cutting-edge science in both my hands-on care and virtual coaching work. I currently serve as a nurse-midwife at Pregnancy and Wellness Maui, where I provide compassionate, whole-woman care—from early pregnancy through postpartum—with a focus on informed decision-making, body wisdom, and natural approaches. I'm also the founder and CEO of Sara Edwards Wellness, an online coaching practice featuring my signature program, "The Pregnancy Protocol." Designed for women in the U.S. and Canada, this transformative program helps expectant mothers prepare for a natural birth, reduce modifiable risks, and confidently avoid unnecessary interventions. What makes my approach unique? My research into the gut microbiome and its profound impact on pregnancy, birth, and maternal mental health. I translate the science of the gut-brain-microbiome axis into practical, personalized strategies that support not just a healthy pregnancy, but a thriving start for both mom and baby. Whether through coaching or clinical care, my mission is the same: to help women feel empowered, informed, and supported during one of the most powerful seasons of their lives.
