The Art of Breastfeeding with Yessie
Service Description
Pathways to Practice is Pacific Birth Collective’s continuing education series created specifically for birth and wellness professionals across Hawai‘i. This program was developed in response to conversations with professionals throughout our state who expressed the need for high-quality, locally grounded, and affordable continuing education. Our intention is to strengthen clinical skills, deepen physiological understanding, and support sustainable, community-centered practice. These workshops are designed for doulas, midwives, chiropractors, massage therapists, herbalists, lactation professionals, and all providers who support families in the perinatal season. We believe continuing education should be accessible — not cost-prohibitive. Through Pathways to Practice, we are committed to offering trainings that are often priced in the hundreds of dollars at a rate that makes ongoing professional growth possible. ⸻ This Month’s Offering: The Art of Breastfeeding An Advanced Birth Worker Training This training is designed for professionals supporting mothers in the immediate postpartum period who want to understand lactation on a deeper physiological and practical level. This workshop covers: • The first hour after birth • Positioning and latch through instinct • Milk production and normal early patterns • Hand expression and gentle support skills • Diet, environment, and toxin awareness • The birth worker’s role in protecting breastfeeding Rooted in physiology. Grounded in women’s wisdom. This class is taught by Yessie Calagias, CPM, Licensed Midwife, Certified Lactation Consultant, and founder of Hearts While Holistic Home Birth in Maui, Hawai‘i. To make this education accessible to our local birth professionals, this workshop is offered for $50. Available: • In person at the Pacific Birth Collective Center (Maui) • Online for statewide participation We look forward to growing our skills, strengthening our professional community, and elevating the standard of care together.
