About the Provider
Aloha, I’m Dr. Anya Vierra! I have my Doctorate in Physical Therapy and am a Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach that specializes in pelvic floor rehabilitation and recovery. My goal is to empower women to return to life and exercise without urinary leakage, bowel leakage, urinary retention, urinary urgency, bowel issues, pelvic pain, or prolapse. Living with pelvic floor dysfunction can be scary and embarrassing, but you don’t have to do it alone. I work with individuals in person on Maui and online for those located outside of Maui. Let me help you rid yourself of worry, embarrassment, and fear of your pelvic floor issues in order to meet your physical and personal goals. I went into physical therapy school to get my Doctorate at A.T. Still University in Mesa, Arizona with a passion for helping others and treating under-served populations. I grew up in a family with a father who is an OBGYN in a rural small town and saw the struggles that many women and people in a small town come across when it comes to inaccessible and necessary care. Due to this, I took my first pelvic floor course to specialize while I was a student in my doctorate program and found a passion for helping women overcome the common, but problematic issues that pelvic floor dysfunction can cause. During my 3rd year of physical therapy school, I was a clinical student at Kapiolani Women’s Center on Oahu where I learned to treat pelvic floor dysfunction and patients post breast cancer and mastectomy. After graduation I got my first job as a pelvic floor physical therapists in a rural farming town in California where I was 1 of only 2 pelvic floor therapists treating throughout my whole county. In this job, I received more coursework to specialize and treat bowel dysfunction, pelvic pain, the female athlete, military women, and patients moving through pregnancy and post-partum recovery. I am well versed in patients between the ages of 16 years old to over 80 years old with pelvic floor dysfunction. My passion is working with active people in all stages of their life dealing with pelvic floor dysfunction in order keep up with the physical demands that life requires, while promoting healthy aging and improving happiness and confidence.
