About the Provider

I believe birth is instinctual and a natural normal function of the human body. Midwifery care looks to support these functions with as little intervention as possible. I strongly believe clients should have choices, and frown on the lack of informed choice often seen today. The basis of my care is a collaborative care model. I am here to give my clients (evidence based) information and as a team we decide on the best plan of action. This shared decision making empowers my clients to participate in their healthcare and outcomes. The realm of pregnancy and birth is both physical and emotional. The goal of my care is to recognize the whole person. I believe as a Midwife the perfect mix is a balance of traditional and didactic knowledge. Both of these can exist cohesively. My back ground is both medical and traditional and I incorporate both in balance, depending on each family’s care plan, wishes and needs. I love, and support the use of Doulas. They are a rich resource of guidance and education for birthing couples. There are many fabulous options here on island. 🌺 I encourage my clients to find the right match for them to join the birth team. Please check out Zen Den Midwifery’s monthly offerings on our webpage. We host community events for both clients and ‘events ‘open to all’. Whether you choose to deliver in the hospital, home, deliver with a Midwife, free birth or free birth with a doula or Traditional birth attendant (TBA) present, all are welcome and invited to find community at the Zen Den.
